Elizabeth from Detroit has a long list of reasons that congress must step up and support municipal public service workers. Without federal funding, Detroit and hundreds of cities like it will experience massive disruptions to safety, hygiene, infrastructure, and education.

“This is an appreciation post for all the healthcare workers that have been working around the clock to keep our communities safe. I’d not only like to thank healthcare workers, I’d also like to thank other essential public service workers that have been working during these unprecedented times. Public service workers are very undervalued in our society and are taken for granted; they deserve more recognition in all of our communities. Thank you to all of the sanitation workers working extra hard to keep everything clean in public environments. Thank you frontline workers for risking your lives. Everyday, they put their lives on the line in order to provide for others. Not only that, but they are also risking the lives of their family members. We are all very grateful for all that you guys do.

The federal government should not be making budget cuts. More than ever, frontline workers need funding and support from the government. We must urge congress for more funding. There will be a negative impact on our communities if public services do not get the funding that they deserve.”

We are all very grateful for all that you guys do. According to the CDC, 11% of the COVID-19 cases are healthcare workers. There was already a shortage of workers prior to this pandemic, but now there is even more of a shortage. Millions of healthcare workers are not getting the pay and respect that they deserve. They are being overworked and underpaid. They are also working in dangerous conditions with very limited PPE. The federal government should not be making budget cuts. More than ever, frontline workers need funding and support from the government. We must urge congress for more funding. There will be a negative impact on our communities if Public Services do not get the funding that they deserve.
