“Unions have protected EMTs in the field by helping them fight for raises as well as health care they can afford. By reducing the pay gaps between 911 and interfacility transfers, unions have bettered the lives of EMS workers that perform life or death medical procedures. They advocate for emergency responders that are assaulted/injured on the job as well as work for fairly compensated overtime.

It is essential to truly understand how unions can impact the lives of laborers as they offer a safer and healthier work environment as well as fair treatment.”

Being an EMT has changed my life tremendously in the best way and it is the “hardest job you will ever love.” When patients are in trouble, it is the EMTs who come running and sometimes we don’t always know what we are coming into. No matter the day or the time we are always there and more than prepared. Being a certified EMT is a privilege and a proud position that I am more than happy to hold. While many people do not know that there are unions available to EMTs, I have seen the way that they have changed lives for the better. Unions have protected EMTs in the field by helping them fight for raises as well as health care they can afford. By reducing the pay gaps between 911 and interfacility transfers, unions have improved the lives of EMS workers that perform life or death medical procedures. They advocate for emergency responders that are assaulted/injured on the job as well as work for fairly compensated overtime. My goal in posting this is to help better educate anyone reading on how truly important unions are not only for EMTs but anyone in the labor force. It is essential to truly understand how unions can impact the lives of laborers as they offer a safer and healthier work environment as well as fair treatment. I want to hear your experiences!
