“In this year’s election, Americans have shown how powerful we can be if we truly come together as one to fight the many issues that continue to plague the Black and brown communities. I voted for civil rights, LGBTQ rights, women’s rights, affordable healthcare, equal pay, paid sick leave etc. I also voted to protect unions and the employees who have fought for decades to fight for my right to access these rights under a private employer.
The presence of unions is so important for this country because they pave the way for future men and women employees who may need paid sick leave for a family member or themselves, employee rights against racism and discrimination in the workplace, and the ongoing fight to increase minimum wage and close the wealth gap. I am thankful for the men and women who came before me and their tireless efforts to create equality and change in this country.”
