“The First Union trained mothers to fight for what they believed in and not give up until their goals and objectives were met. Joining a union gave me the confidence to raise my voice about my rights. I can campaign for my rights as a working African-American mother and for many of my colleagues as well, thanks to the efforts of labor unions.

The Union gave us economic stability and taught us solidarity in the true sense. I can take days off, take mental breaks, attend my children’s school events and go on family trips for physical relaxation and know that when I return I will still have job stability.

The Union helps makes the changes in my work policies fair and equitable and allows us to have a good work life balance . A strong union allows us to show up for our children too, and as a mom, I know how significant it is for us to do so.”
