Vanessa supports unions because she knows how important they are and how many benefits from them. What many do not know is that there is strength in numbers, unions believe that we can achieve more together than we do alone. Vanessa believes in educating those who know little about unions and how they support workers, even those who are not a part of one. When people do a job they expect to be compensated for their hard work. Unions ensure employers are paying their employees correctly. Thanks to unions’ hard work, many companies are unable to take advantage of their employees. This is because unions give the workers a voice and allow a certain level of communication between them and those in higher positions, putting pressure on other organizations to do the same.
An entire workplace enjoys wages which represent a fair return on work and greater social mobility, when union membership is at peak.
Unions believe that we achieve more together than we do alone. By joining a union, we are developing our collective values of solidarity and equality in our workplace.
