“Who remembers getting their first professional job? It was slightly overwhelming with all of the things that were coming at you when you sat with HR. They were discussing healthcare, 401ks, PTO, and so much more.

One of the things that stuck out to me most was being a union employee. As a fresh college graduate, I didn’t really grasp the importance of this. I soon learned that these are the people who are fighting for you. As a minority, this is extremely important to know that there is someone who is fighting for your pay and for you to be treated as an equal on all levels.

I support unions, because they support people like you and me. They are at the table on our behalf. If there is a union in your field of work, I encourage you to meet with them and join, because representation is key to making the change we want to see!”
