2020 has turned education on its head. From needing different methods of instruction to finding effective ways to engage students, teaching and learning sure do look different right now. Case in point: my husband's AP Stats classroom…which is actually our daughter's bedroom! An old folding table, uncomfortable wooden chairs, a homemade standing desk–oh, my!! All the laptops help him multitask when grading student work. He has a stack of calendars to keep track of the virtual class times, hybrid block schedules, and assessment days. The blankets at his feet double as a reading nook for our kids…or a nap spot for our dog! This definitely isn't a traditional school year by any stretch, but we're doing the best we can with what we have! And we're especially grateful for the peace of mind his Union provides. With all the uncertainty surrounding everything these days, we appreciate his union being on top of it when it comes to their response to COVID-19, protecting educators' rights and safety, and giving teachers a voice. Unions are incredibly important and are a protection that everyone deserves!
