“I believe that unions are essential for Black workers to achieve equality, and people should have their freedom to unionize without intimidation. I once worked in a company that used to tell the employees to never be part of a union because it was bad for them. I remember that I felt terrible because I knew that it was the opposite. Without unions, businesses have the opportunity to exploit work labor and condition their employees to stay silent about the danger and inequalities looming within the workplace. I believe in unions because everyone deserves fair treatment at the workplace and many other benefits such as increasing low wages for Black workers with few years of formal education. My hope is that one day all Black workers can use their collective voice to advocate for better work conditions.”
