American support for labor unions is the highest it’s been in nearly two decades, with 65% of participants in a new poll expressing their favor, according to a new Gallup report.
While union support is often polarized along political party lines – with 83% of polled Democrats, 45% of polled Republicans, and 64% of polled independent voters currently approving – enthusiasm for organized labor has been on the rise in all three categories since the Great Recession.
The new data suggests that Americans – while in disagreement over the country’s most critical issues – agree overall that unions and the organized labor movement are helpful to workers
